Senior Programming

• Golden Cafe, M- F 10:30 am - 2:00 pm ($2.25 donation suggested) - a nutritious lunch is served at 12 noon and activities such as playing cards or listening to music or just making new friends are offered.

• Neighborhood Advisor-- Provides free help with anything from utility bills to navigating the Social Security System doctors appointments getting to the drug store, and referrals for almost any problem or activity.  Funded by the Onondaga County Department of Aging and Youth.

• Cyber-Senior & OASIS Computer Classes  -- Call for Schedule Below (free). 

• YWCA Senior Exercise Classes --  Wednesdays & Fridays 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM (September - June only)

        8:30 – 10:00 AM & 1:00 – 3:00 PM Monday – Friday (Except when classes are given)

Oriental Brush Painting Thursdays, 9:30 – 11:00 AM ($10)

Senior/Community Dinners & Bingo- Everyone Welcome – Check our calendar for dates (Donation)- Next Dinners are Thursday, April 28th & Monday, May, 24, 2010 at 5:30 PM.

 

Neighborhood Advisor Services – The Eastside Neighborhood Advisor is available Monday – Friday during normal office hours. Your Neighborhood Advisor can research concerns or problems, help with obtaining and completing applications or other forms, help locate needed services,  provide information about stretching household income and work with individuals or senior groups. This process can be done in person, by phone or through the mail. Our Neighborhood Advisor is trained to help older adults get the services they need to remain independent in their home setting and be informed of programs available to them in the community.  Call Cecilia Resti at 478-8634 to access these services.

Moving for

Better Balance

Funded by a grant from Onondaga County Department of Aging &Youth  

What:    Moving for Better Balance is a free exercise program designed to
               reduce the risk of falling among seniors.

Where: The Westcott Community Center , 826Euclid Ave., Syracuse , NY

When:   Every Thursday from 11:00—11:45 AM

Who:     Anyone over 60 years of age

Free classes will be led by Exercise Physiologist, Anne Bowdoin who will tailor the class to each person's needs to make sure that everybody is moving at their own pace.  So, come prepared to learn how YOU can get moving for better balance!

Transportation can be arranged.  Call 478-8634 for information.
